'Ortom Will Will Prefer To Lose Ayu Than To Abandon Wike'

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders have called on their party to rein in former governors, Nyesom Wike and Samuel Ortom due to recent disagreements.

These comments come In response to a dispute between the former Governors and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

Ortom had criticized Atiku as a rejected and frustrated figure.

This came after a statement from Atiku’s assistant, Mr Phrank Shaibu, who accused Ortom of incompetence during his tenure.

Meanwhile, Wike has been seen aligning with the All Progressives Congress-led government, leading to rumours that he might serve in the cabinet of President Bola Tinubu.

In an interview with Punch, an executive member of the PDP and the party’s former National Secretary, Senator Ibrahim Tsauri warned that no party member is above the PDP.

He referred to Ortom and Wike as job seekers, claiming their actions are a desperate bid to prove their worth to the APC.

Tsauri stated that when APC’s government appointments are over without including them, they will “feel the heat.”

He said, “The only reason the PDP has not wielded the axe on them is because they are still seen as members of the party. But no one is bigger than the party.

“Their issues are with individuals, not the party. When appointments in the APC government are exhausted without them getting any, then you will know what I mean. They will feel the heat.”

Another PDP executive member and the party’s Deputy National Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor confirmed that the behavior of the two former governors will be a topic in the party’s upcoming meeting.

He insisted that they are not exempt from the party’s disciplinary action.

Osadolor criticized Ortom, citing his failure to secure a senatorial election and his repeated visits to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. He further labelled Ortom as a “total failure.”

The spokesperson for the 2023 Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, Charles Aniagwu stated that the actions of the former governors will not be ignored.

He hinted at future disciplinary actions, saying, “The party will very soon be in a position to question them as to why they are behaving this way.”

He encouraged them to reconsider their actions, reminding them of their debt to the party.
