Wike, Uzodinma, Mbah... - IPOB Releases List Of Top Politicians, Others Allegedly Working Against Release Of Nnamdi Kanu

As the push for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu intensifies, indications are that South-East leaders might be meeting President Bola Tinubu to discuss the possibility of releasing him.

Naija News reports that the lawmaker representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Ifeanyi Ubah, on Thursday disclosed that there is a resolution among southeast leaders to meet the President over the issue of Kanu’s release.

Unah made the revelation on Thursday when he was featured in an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

The lawmaker said the exact resolution has been made among senators from the region.

Unah noted that Kanu’s release would help reduce insecurity in the South-East geopolitical zone, adding that there is a link between releasing the IPOB leader and the state of security in the South-East.

He pointed out that Kanu’s release is part of the discussion to put on the table once they can get into talks with the President.

He submitted that“There is a resolution that we are going to meet with the president, and we will tick his leniency and see if it is going to be possible to plead with him to have Nnamdi Kanu released.

“We have taken that position, and for also some of us in the Senate, we have our caucus, we have also taken that position.”

Speaking further, Ubah remarked that Kanu does not support the sit-at-home gripping the zone’s economy.

“The agitation is different; we are talking about sit-at-home, which is deteriorating the economy of the southeast region. The agitation is a political issue about the inequities in how an Igbo man is seen in Nigeria,” the lawmaker added.

Recall that the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been held in detention for about two years.
