The Lagos State Police Command has rescued a day-old female baby dumped near a septic tank in Gowon Estate, Ipaja, Lagos State.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made the disclosure in a statement in Lagos on Wednesday.

According to Hundeyin, a member of the public found the baby inside a plastic bag at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

He said that the baby was rapped with a cloth

The police at the Gowon Estate Police Division were subsequently alerted and the newborn was taken to a health facility for medical attention.

The officers promptly arrived at the scene and took the baby for immediate medical attention at a health centre.

“The baby is doing well.

“The officers have left the hospital for the Juvenile Welfare Centre, Alakara, Mushin, for custody,’’ he said.

Gunmen Kill Eight-Month-Old Baby In Plateau Attack

Meanwhile, in a recent attack on the village of Farin Lamba in the Vwang area of Jos South LGA, Plateau, gunmen reportedly killed eight people, among them an eight-month-old baby.

The attack occurred Sunday night, as per Rwang Tengwong, the national publicity secretary of the Berom Youth Movement, a socio-cultural group.

Tengwong provided details about the incident, stating, “The gunmen invaded the village at about 9:45 p.m. on Sunday in a car and shot sporadically at the victims.”

Among the victims was an eight-month-old baby who was with his father returning from the hospital.

The recent attack follows a series of violent incidents in the region, including the killing of nine people in Sabon Gari community, Mangu LGA, just days prior.

The increasing violence has prompted concerns due to the loss of lives and the “massive destruction of farmlands, houses and other properties.”

Tengwong praised the efforts of the Operation Save Haven operatives and the government’s deployment of additional security to the endangered areas.

He urged local residents to cooperate with these security agencies to restore peace to their communities.
