The spokesman to the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation in the 2023 election, Daniel Bwala, has reacted to the emergence of President Bola Tinubu as the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Naija News recalls that President Tinubu on Sunday emerged as the new ECOWAS Chairman at the 63rd Ordinary Session of the coalition held in the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.

In a tweet via his official Twitter handle on Monday, Bwala, who is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), congratulated Tinubu on his emergence as the new ECOWAS leader.

He expressed worry that Tinubu was appointed after he removed fuel subsidy, saying that other members of ECOWAS know that there would be revenue from Nigeria.

Bwala, however, asked President Tinubu not to use the funds generated from the subsidy removal to finance ECOWAS because Nigerians are extremely poor and Nigeria has an infrastructure deficit.

He wrote: “Congratulations on your appointment by @ecowas_cedeao as ECOWAS chairman. My only worry is that they appointed you as chairman after you removed fuel subsidy, so they know there would be revenue.

“Please do not use the funds to finance ECOWAS because your own citizens are extremely poor and we have infrastructure deficit here at home.”
