Former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has expressed displeasure over the recommendations of the Anambra State government on the 19-year-old student, Mmesoma Ejikeme, who confessed to forging her University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result.

Naija News earlier reported that the eight-member panel set up by Governor Charles Soludo had mandated the committee to investigate the controversies surrounding the results claimed by Mmesoma.

Headed by Professor Nkemdili Nnonyelu, the committee confirmed Mmesoma forged the score of 362 as earlier claimed by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

According to the report submitted to the governor, Mmesoma confirmed she single-handedly forged the result before approaching a cyber cafe for printing.

The committee in its recommendation said Mmesoma should tender an unreserved apology to the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) and undergo psychological counseling and therapy.

Reacting to this, Reno Omokri, in a post shared on Instagram, frowned at the recommendations, saying Mmesoma would be prosecuted if such a crime was committed in Lagos or any other Southwest state.

According to him, the high tolerance for fraud and refusal to punish victims is the reason certain states in Nigeria have many of their citizens in jail for drug and romance scams.

He wrote: “And to show the high tolerance for fraud by the Anambra State Government itself, their recommendations did not include the prosecution of Mmesoma Ejikeme for her fraudulent act. Instead of prosecution, they recommended that she undergo a psychological evaluation. Really?

“If you tried what Mmesoma did in Lagos or the Southwest, you would be prosecuted, as the Lagos State Government did to Oni Ololade, a LASPOTECH, who was jailed by Lagos for fraud. But in Anambra, you will get a psychological evaluation at the state’s expense. Wow!

“This high tolerance for fraud and refusal by the state itself to punish it is why certain states in Nigeria have too many of their citizens in jail for drugs, romance scams, and fraudulent acts in a proportion that exceeds their ratio of the total Nigerian population.

“Unfortunately, the rest of us are treated like criminals in foreign airports the minute we produce our green passports. It is us, the innocent victims, who need psychological evaluation, not criminals like Mmesoma, who give Nigeria such a bad reputation at home and abroad.”
