Everton’s enterprising midfielder, Alex Iwobi has insisted that he is not planning to leave the Premier League club for a club in Turkey.

In recent weeks, there have been speculations that Alex Iwobi could leave the struggling Everton football club at the end of this season.

These speculations gained more ground when Iwobi and Everton have not been able to reach an agreement for a new deal even though his current contract is expected to expire in 2024.

Before the March international break, Everton opened negotiations with the in-form midfielder but there seems to be no agreement in sight yet.

Amidst that, Everton are fighting to survive relegation. Though they are sitting in the 15th spot, they are just two points away from the relegation zone with 10 games left to play.

Fans of the Merseyside club are suspecting that the current state of the club could force Iwobi to leave this summer.

Naija News recalls that Iwobi was heavily linked with a move to the Turkish side, Fenerbahce during the January transfer window. But in an interview on the Beautiful Game podcast, Alex Iwobi said there was nothing like that in the works.

“Nope [I didn’t hear anything],” the 26-year-old Nigeria international responded when asked about the transfer speculations.

“First, I posted on Instagram and just saw bare [a lot] of comments and I was thinking, ‘What?’.

“I didn’t know anything about it. Then I’m getting mentioned on Twitter by my boys that I might be going to Turkey, but I was like no man. The only way I’m going to Turkey is for my teeth or my hairline [laughs].

“No, I was a bit rattled. It’s always nice to get interested from another team but nah, just focus on football.”
