Whitney Adeniran: No Reason To Shut Down Chrisland School - Lagos Deputy Gov

The Lagos State government has granted permission to Chrisland High School, Opebi branch, to open for physical learning ahead of the school’s forthcoming examinations.

Naija News reported that some concerned parents in an open letter to the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, appealed that the school should be reopened to enable students to catch up with the terms academic calendar.

The concerned parents in the open letter appreciated Sanwo-Olu’s unbiased support to the deceased family, urging him to consider the interest of students in terminal classes of year 9 and 12 respectively.

Recall that an autopsy confirmed that Adeniran was electrocuted during the school Inter House sports held at the Agege Stadium in the Agege area of Lagos.

Following the development, the Lagos state government ordered the immediate closure of the school pending the outcome of the investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding Adeniran’s death.

According to PUNCH, the State Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo, in a statement addressed to the school’s management on Tuesday announced that the state government has granted the school access to open and for physical classes to commence only for students in terminal classes, JSS 3 and SS 3 to enable them to prepare for their upcoming exams.

The letter also invited the school management to a meeting at the Conference Room of the Ministry on Thursday, 30 March at noon.
