Unidentified gunmen have burnt down the country home of Ifeanyi Ozoemena, a PDP candidate for the Imo State House of Assembly.

Ifeanyi Ozoemena who revealed this today said the attackers burnt down his country home intentionally. The building which is located in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo state is said to be badly damaged by the yet-to-be-identified attackers.

According to the PDP state house of assembly candidate, both his house and that of his father at Umuokparaoha village in the Umulolo community were razed by fire on Tuesday.

“They struck around 2 pm, set the houses on fire, and supervised the burning. The two houses and the properties got destroyed in the attack. They operated unchallenged. I am distraught. This is unfortunate”, Ozoemena said.

“I call on the commissioner of police to intervene. I am grateful that no life was lost. My aged parents were not around when they struck.”

Though the police in Imo state have confirmed this attack, they were yet to make any arrests related to the incident as of the time of filling in this report.

Before now, there have been a handful of cases that show that the Okigwe Local Government Area is bedeviled by insecurity since 2022.

For instance, in February this year, the country home of Nnaemeka Obiaraeri, a Labour Party candidate for the state house of Assembly was invaded.

Also in February, the home of Emeka Okoronkwo, the state commissioner for youth and sports, was targeted by gunmen in the Ihube community of the LGA.

Due to the incessant attacks by gunmen in the LGA and its environs, Naija News gathered that most of the residents in the LGA are living in fear while some have relocated.
