The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, on Wednesday declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.

Mahmood during the presentation of state-by-state results this morning announced that Tinubu will receive his Certificate of Return by 3 PM today.

Naija News reports that the INEC boss had declared a break earlier to allow preparation for the final verdict on the outcome of the presidential, Senate and house of representatives election held on Saturday, February 25th.

Returning to his seat to reel out figures of each party in the election, Yakubu said, “It has been a long day.”

To begin the presentation, he asked the collation secretariat to project the summary of results by states on the screens.

Tinubu was certified the winner of the presidential election after having a spread of 25% of votes in 29 states. His counterparts, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party’s Peter had 25% of votes in 21 states and 25% of votes in 16 states, respectively.
