Anxiety As Tribunals Decide On Tinubu, 25 Govs' Election Victory In September

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, as the winner of the presidential election conducted in Rivers State held last Saturday.

Naija News reports Tinubu won the keenly contested election in Rivers after results from Governor Nyesom Wike‘s local council, Obio Akpor Local Government Area (LGA), came in.

The APC presidential candidate won Obio Akpor LGA with 80,239 votes, while the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, scored 3,829 votes, and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 368 votes.

However, Tinubu won the presidential election in Rivers with a total number of 231,591 votes to defeat Obi who scored a total number of 175,071 votes, while Atiku came third with 88,468 votes.

The APC flagbearer won in 15 out of the 23 local government areas of the state while Obi won in 5 local government areas.

The result was announced by the State Collation Officer and Vice Chancellor of Federal University Otuoke, Professor Teddy Charles Adias, shortly after suspended collation resumed in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

Naija News earlier reported that Adias had suspended the collation of results over an alleged threat to life by LP members over allegations of election rigging.
