Election Results: APC Candidate Tokunbo Abiru Wins Lagos East Senatorial Seat

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, as the winner of the Lagos East Senatorial Election.

Naija News reports that the presidential, Senatorial, and House of Assembly elections were held on Saturday, February 25, 2023, across the country.

Abiru secured 178,646 votes to defeat his closest rival of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who garnered 80,249 votes.

Announcing the results, the INEC Returning Officer for the Lagos East Senatorial election, Prof. Simeon Adebayo Oladipo, said Abiru’s votes represent 61.4% of the total valid votes cast.

A statement through his special adviser, Enitan Olukotun, disclosed that Abiru having satisfied the requirements of the law by winning the majority of votes cast across the Senatorial district was declared the winner and returned elected.

Senator Abiru also expressed appreciation to all the party leaders, supporters, well-wishers, and Lagos East Senatorial District for their unwavering support throughout the campaign period and the election day.

He also commended how the Senatorial district voted for the presidential candidate of the Party, Bola Tinubu having polled 149,685 votes to defeat his closest rival of the Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi who scored 118,348.
