#NigeriaDecides: Police PRO Reacts As Police Officers Snatch Ballot Boxes In Rivers

The Police Public Relations Officer Olumuyi Adejobi, has reacted to the viral video of its officers snatching ballot boxes in Rivers State.

Naija News reports that there have been speculations that Rivers was also marred with electoral violence just like some other parts of the country.

A Twitter user had reached out to the Police PRO stating that police officers were snatching ballot boxes and destroying voting materials in Igwuruta, Rivers State.

The post read: “Watch the Moment Police officers snatched ballot boxes and destr@yed voting materials in Igwuruta, Rivers state. @PoliceNG @inecnigeria”

Responding to the tweet, Olumuyiwa said the Rivers State command has been contacted over the incident and necessary investigation will be done.

He wrote: “We have contacted Rivers State Command on this. Necessary investigation will be done. Thanks.”

MC Oluomo Allegedly Stopping Igbos From Voting

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has reacted to a viral video showing the Lagos State Parks Management Committee Chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, allegedly threatening and restraining the Igbo people from voting at his Polling Unit.

Naija News understands that a netizen (@chude__) had shared the clip on Twitter, calling the force’s attention to the event at the polling unit in Fehintola Giwa Street, Aguda, Surulere, Lagos.

Chude further alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) refused to redeploy its comprised REC, Agbaje, adding that “MC Oluomo made sure that materials didn’t get to their destinations.”

Reacting to the clip, which has received a barrage of reactions on the microblogging platform, the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, assured that the video would be investigated.
