Some thugs reportedly attacked supporters of the African Democratic Party (ADP) yesterday in Lagos State.

Reports obtained by Naija News on Friday revealed that the hoodlums cornered the party members in the Lekki area of Lagos.

The political group were returning from their campaign rally in the evening hour on Thursday when the thugs confronted them at the Maruwa end of the Lekki-Epe Expressway, leaving at least five of them with injuries.

An eyewitness who confided in The PUNCH explained that the ADP supporters sustained degrees of wounds while a few others were dispossessed of their valuables.

“The supporters were coming out of a street around the Maruwa bus stop when some boys emerged from nowhere and accosted them. This led to a confrontation, and before we knew it, the boys started to attack them.

“Five people were injured, and most of them were females. Some of the supporters also lost their phones in the process,” the eyewitness explained to journalists.

It was gathered that some of the hoodlums later fled the scene while the unlucky ones were overpowered and apprehended by the party supporters, who took them to a nearby police station.

“The incident was reported to the police around 6:30 pm. Three phones were stolen and one laptop damaged,” the eyewitness added.

Kano: Two LG Chairmen Arrested Over Unlawful Possession Of Arms

A joint security team, comprising the military police, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) has reportedly arrested the chairmen of Ungogo and Rimingado local government areas (LGAs) of Kano state, Abdullahi Ramat and Munir Dahiru over unlawful possession of firearms.

Naija News reports that the two LGA Chairmen were arrested with rifles while they were leading armed thugs to attack the convoy of the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Rabiu Kwankwaso along Zaria Road, Kano.

According to the source who confirmed the development to Daily Nigerian said, “The joint security force were on show of force when they encountered the chairmen leading the thugs.

“The security agents immediately disarmed the chairmen and arrested over 100 thugs laying ambush on the NNPP presidential candidate.

“They are currently detained at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the joint security force is intensifying patrol in the city to bring all the criminals to book,” the source added.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the state police command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, is yet to verify the development at the time of filing this report.
