The PUNCH: Ahead of Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday commenced the distribution of sensitive materials in states including Lagos, Benue, Ondo, Ekiti and Osun. Also, as part of the preparations for the polls, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Wednesday met with security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he said INEC had no excuse not to conduct successful polls.


The Guardian: The Supreme Court, yesterday, said it will deliver judgment in the suit challenging the naira redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on March 3, effectively extending the stalemate to after Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.


ThisDay: Contrary to fears that were being expressed in some quarters that the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections might be postponed, the National Security Council (NSC) rose from its maiden meeting in 2023, yesterday, with an assurance that the presidential and National Assembly elections billed for this Saturday would hold as scheduled. Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, gave the assurance when he briefed newsmen on the outcome of the meeting presided by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Council Chambers of State House, Abuja.


The Nation: The Supreme Court has fixed judgment for March 3 in the suits filed by 17 states to challenge the propriety of the naira swap policy of the Federal Government. A nine-member panel of the court presided over by Justice John Okoro chose the date after lawyers to parties made their final submissions



Daily Trust: President Muhammadu Buhari has urged all candidates in Saturday’s general elections to respect the choice of voters and accept the outcome of the polls. He spoke in Abuja yesterday at the second signing of the National Peace Accord by political parties and presidential candidates, organised by the National Peace Committee (NPC).
