President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday held a closed-door meeting with the president of the 9th senate, Ahmad Lawan and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The closed-door meeting is coming hours after the Council of State meeting on Friday endorsed the Naira redesign policy.

The council, however, gave the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele the condition to print new Naira notes or recirculate the ones to bring respite to the suffering in the nation.

Gbajabiamila and Lawan were in attendance at the meeting held at the Council Chambers, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

As of the time of filing this report, the details of the meeting between President Buhari, the Speaker and the Senate President have not been released.

Akeredolu Drags Buhari Govt, CBN To Supreme Court

In other news, Governor Rotimi Akeredou of Ondo State has dragged the Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government to the Supreme Court over the limitation on daily cash withdrawals from banks introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Naija News reports that CBN places the maximum weekly withdrawal for individuals and corporate organisations at N500,000 and N5 million, respectively.

Akeredolu, in an originating, summon filed by Ondo Attorney-General Charles Titiloye, asked the Supreme Court to declare that the federal government cannot, by a directive issued through CBN, amend or vary an existing act of the National Assembly, particularly section 2 of the Money Laundering Act, which relates specifically to limitations on cash withdrawals for individuals and corporate organisations to N5 million and N10 million, respectively.
