Peter Obi Suggests How He Can Be Punished If He Fails To Perform
Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has suggested how he can be punished if he fails to deliver his campaign promises when he eventually wins the 2023 presidential election.

The former Governor of Anambra State, while reassuring Nigerians of his desire to deliver good governance if elected as Nigeria’s next president, said on Tuesday that he and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, should be sacked if by any way they began to take Nigeria opposite direction.

Naija News understands that Obi made the submission during his address at the Support Group Conveners Conference in Abuja.

He cautioned against voting for politicians who impoverished 95 million Nigerians, urging the electorates to reject the old political order that brought about poverty and debt.

He urged Nigerians to take ownership of the country from the old political order, reiterating his commitment to the New Nigeria Project.

Obi also enjoined Nigerians to demand accountability from public officeholders to stem the tide of corruption.

He said: “Myself and my running mate, Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, As drivers whose duty will be to take Nigeria to a destination of peace, unity and progress if elected as president and vice-president respectively in the coming February, 25th general elections, ‘sack’ me and my running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed whenever we are found to be taking Nigerians in the opposite direction.”

The presidential hopeful decried the high poverty rate in the country, insisting that Nigeria had no reason to be counted among the poor nations of the world.

“All our country has produced in the last ten years is poverty. In 2012, the number of Nigerians who are poor was about 65 million. Today, it is about 95 million. And those who caused it are asking to be given more years. To do what?” He asked.

2023 Election: It Will Be Difficult To Work With Tinubu, Peter Obi – Ned Nwoko

Meanwhile, Delta North senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ned Nwoko, said yesterday that it would be almost impossible for him to enjoy serving as a senator under either of the presidential candidates of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and Labour Party’s Peter Obi.

According to Nwoko, winning the 2023 election for him is not a do-or-die affair. Naija News understands that the politician and business mogul said this today during an interactive session with journalists in Asaba.

Nwoko was a guest at ‘The Platform,’ a programme organized by the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Naija News reports.

In his address, the senatorial candidate said he wouldn’t like to be in the opposition if he emerges as the next senator in the red chamber.

He, thereby, encouraged Nigerians to vote for the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, saying being a senator under a candidate of his party will be easier than under an opposition party candidate.

Nwoko stressed that it would be an uphill task for him to go and convince Peter Obi and Tinubu to do what he wanted for him.

He stressed: “It’s almost impossible. But if I have Okowa and Atiku, it’s easy. Please, make room for them. I believe they will make things happen. If I am in opposition, it becomes a problem.”

Nwoko noted that the PDP agenda would be those things discussed and agreed upon with the people. While noting that the same goes for the governor, Nwoko told the people that they were shooting themselves in the leg if they chose to support a candidate of the APC to be governor of Delta State.

“I cannot work with an APC governor. I know him,” he said, soliciting support for all PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections.
