The PUNCH: With less than 40 days to the general elections, voters in Sokoto, Imo, Katsina, Zamfara, Anambra and some other states have expressed apprehension over the spate of insecurity in their communities, saying they may not participate in the electoral exercise unless the situation improves. They insisted that their communities were not safe enough for elections to take place and urged the Federal Government to devise urgent strategies to address the situation.


The Guardian: With massive energy deficit, the highest in the world according to statistics, the Federal Government is contemplating a renewable energy plan (REmap) that would generate 178,000MW in its bid to overhaul Nigeria’s energy architecture. To achieve the ambitious energy plan, the FG is scouting for investors to raise $1.22 trillion to shift its energy sources to renewable, with a projected 178,000 Megawatts of electricity over the next 27 years.


Vanguard: Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has warned that the window of reconciliation in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is closing, saying there would be dire consequences if the party refuses to heed calls for the exit of its National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu.


This Day: The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is synonymous with poverty, unemployment, insecurity, lack of development and other negative indices in human development. Also, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, has declared that Nigeria would be safer in the hands of a stingy man.Obi’s counterpart in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, however, said education and job creation would be his priorities if elected president.


The Nation: The waiting game continues in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as supporters of the G5 governors await words from the governors on their preferred presidential candidate in next month’s presidential election. The group’s rallying point and Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, says they are not in a hurry to declare their stand


Daily Trust: Ahead of the March 11, 2023, governorship election, voters in Katsina State have emphasised the need for clear-cut policies to tackle insecurity, unemployment and local government administration in the state.
