Just In: List Of PDP Governors In Attendance As Meeting With Wike Begins

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has reacted to the resignation of a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prof. A.B.C. Nwosu from the party.

Wike while speaking about the development on Saturday said the resignation of Nwosu who is a member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BOT) it’s a sign of future danger to the party’s fortunes and validates what he and other G5 Governors have been fighting for.

He said if the PDP leadership does not quickly correct the anomaly, the party will surely suffer the consequences.

Naija News recalls Nwosu announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Board of Trustees (BOT) in a letter of resignation addressed to the National Chairman of PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, dated January 12, 2023, which the party acknowledged the receipt of his resignation letter.

Nwosu cited non-adherence to the principle of rotation by PDP as his reason for dumping the party.

Reacting to the development when he hosted the stakeholders of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike said the resignation further gives credence to the position of himself and other G5 Governors who have insisted on the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu as the party’s national chairman over imbalanced sharing of party leadership positions.

The G5 insisted they won’t work for the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar except Ayu resigns from his position and is replaced by a southerner.

Emphasizing their position on Saturday, Wike said they want equality for everybody insisting that nobody should be treated as a second-class citizen.

He said: “I have continued to challenge them. What is the problem? What are we fighting for? What I said and will continue to say is that all of us are from this country. Nobody is a second class citizen.

“We are agreed that this is how our party will be. Recently Prof. A.B.C Nwosu resigned from the party saying that his conscience will not allow him, that the constitution of the party is clear, if you take this, these other people will take that. Why now are we saying that we won’t do it again?

“What the people are saying is look, you have taken this, let these people take that and you are saying you will take all. If you take all, you will also face the repercussions.”

Nobody Can Fight Rivers State

Wike insisted that nobody can take the people of Rivers State for granted, adding that they won’t succumb to any form of intimidation.

According to him, Rivers State would fight anyone that wants to fight the state to a finish.

He said: “You can not fight anybody that God has blessed. God has blessed Rivers State. Anybody fighting Rivers State, you are fighting yourself.

“Nobody can intimidate us. No one State in this country can intimidate Rivers State. If you want to fight us, we will fight you to the last.

“If you want to make peace with us, we will make peace with you to the last. But thinking that anybody will come and intimidate us and then we will chicken out, that is not possible.”
