2023: G-5 Governors To Flag-Off Makinde’s Campaign On Thursday

Five aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) identified as G-5 are expected to storm Ibadan, Oyo State capital on Thursday for the inauguration of the campaign of their counterpart, Seyi Makinde.

A source at the national secretariat of the PDP, Wadata Plaza who spoke with Punch disclosed that the five governors have pledged their availability for Makinde’s campaign.

According to the source, the governors would be attending the event because whatever affects one of them affects the others.

The source further stated that the G-5 are in solidarity with whoever among them is celebrating or making any special event.

Speaking ahead of the official launching of Makinde’s governorship campaign in Oyo State, the source said, “You know they are more than colleagues now. Whatever affects one affects the others. They are in solidarity with whoever among them is celebrating or marking any special event. As usual, Wike, the leader of the group will be there alongside the others.

“Even though they are members of the PDP, they are going about their campaigns as if they have a different party. They are in a world of their own, riding on the influence of their executive powers to call the bluff of the party.”
