Governor Nyesom Wike has revealed the details of his meeting with his Akwa Ibom counterpart, Udom Emmanuel, amid the lingering crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Naija News earlier reported that Wike held a closed-door meeting with Udom at his private residence in Port Harcourt on Saturday, with Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue in attendance.

Speaking with reporters at the end of the meeting, Wike said the meeting with his Akwa Ibom counterpart was a friendly discussion, adding that anything about politics was not part of that discussion.

The Rivers governor added that he has a fantastic relationship with Udom despite their different political affiliations and thinking and will continue to maintain the relationship.

He said: “Everybody knows my relationship with Udom. We will continue to maintain that relationship. We may have different political affiliations and thinking. That should not divide us or create a gap in brotherly love.

“Like he said, it is for the spirit of the birth of Christ and we are going to the new year. There is a need to continue with that relationship as brothers and friends.

“So, anything about politics was not part of that discussion. Anything on politics was not discussed at all.”

The meeting comes amid claims that the G5 governors of the PDP, led by Wike, may endorse Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the presidency.

However, Wike and Tinubu have denied meeting in London, United Kingdom and refuted claims of endorsement ahead of the 2023 elections.
