Daley Blind Agrees To Leave Ajax Prematurely

Daley Blind whose contract with Dutch club Ajax was expected to expire on June 30, 2023, has decided to walk away from the Dutch club.

Ajax announced on Tuesday that Netherlands defender, Daley Blind has decided to end his agreement with the club six months before the expiration of the contract.

The 32-year-old Dutchman played 333 games for the Dutch team throughout two stints after enrolling in Ajax’s academy at the age of eight.

He has 13 goals for the team and seven Eredivisie championships which makes him an iconic product of the Dutch club.

“Over the last few days, we reached an agreement with Daley to terminate his contract,” Ajax president Edwin van der Sar said.

“I hope he can find another club to end his successful career with.”

Blind, who has participated in all but one league match this season, left Ajax for Manchester United in 2014 and stayed with the Premier League club for four years before going back to the Amsterdam-based team.

Due to the impact, the Netherlands international has made on the Dutch, he would not be allowed to walk away from the club without being celebrated. Hence, the club has arranged a farewell match in his honor.

The club’s president, Van der Sar said: “Together with Daley, we have decided on a match in the ArenA where he can say a proper goodbye to the supporters.”
