One Dies As Masquerade 'Causes' Road Accident In Anambra

A tragic Christmas day road accident along the Lagos-Ibadan highway reportedly claimed three lives.

Reports reaching Naija News this morning revealed that the tragic incident occurred this morning at about 5:50 am, one kilometre away from the Kara turning.

Accordinf to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), a total of 18 male adults were involved in the accident. Confirming the incident, FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe said six persons sustained various digress of injuries in the incident.

Three casualties according to Okpe were recorded in the accident and that the remaining nine people were unhurt.

It was gathered that a speeding Toyota Haice bus registered as, AYB 88 XP, ran into an unmarked truck from the rear. Okpe told reporters that the bus driver made an attempt to overtake the truck, but he was not successful; “rather, he lost control and hit the truck at the rear and the truck did not stop.”

She disclosed that the injured victims were taken to Famobis Hospital, adding that the corpses were deposited at Idera Hospital morgue, Sagamu.

Reacting to the incident, the Ogun FRSC Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar, described the accident as avoidable, urging passengers to always caution drivers on reckless driving.

He sympathised with the families of the victims and advised motorists to obey simple rules.
