Peter Obi Speaks On Killings In Sokoto, Plateau, Others

The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Wednesday, took over the responsibility of the master of ceremony at the party’s campaign rally in Cross River State.

This comes after the former Governor of Anambra State arrived at the campaign ground late due to other engagements and meetings in the state.

According to Daily Post, Peter Obi after arriving late at the UJ Esuene Stadium took over the microphone and apologized to the crowd who had been waiting for a long time.

During the campaign which lasted for 30 minutes, the LP flagbearer assured that his administration will not tolerate police brutality and the Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU) would never go on strike.

He also promised to make tourism work and ensure that the Calabar Port becomes vibrant as a means of diverting economic traffic to the state.

He said: “My government will never tolerate police brutality. ASUU will never go on strike. Mark my words. We’ll ensure that we become a productive economy as against a consumption economy. We’ll make tourism work again in Cross River State, which is the tourism capital of Nigeria. Above all, we’ll ensure the Calabar Port is made to become vibrant as a way of diverting economic traffic to the state”

After the campaign, Peter Obi‘s motorcade was blocked from moving out of the stadium by the huge crowd and he subsequently alighted from his SUV to plead with the crowd who scrambled to touch him.

The LP candidate reportedly left the motorcade, breaking protocol, to control the traffic, and gave the DSS and police details attached to him a strenuous task to protect himself and his team.

Speaking after the incident, the LP state chairman, Ogar Osim commended Peter Obi for moving out to control the crowd, showing he is not only energetic but ready to stoop to do any work

He said: “That our Presidential candidate came out to clear the crowd showed how he is not only energetic but ready to come down to our level to work. If he wins the 2023 election as president, he would not always be in Aso Rock to sign papers but will move out to see things for himself and work.”
