The Argentina FA has described the 2022 FIFA World Cup parade which took place in Buenos Aires, the country’s capital, on Tuesday, as a shame.

Initially, the Argentina FA planned that the victorious players of the Argentina national team would parade the 2022 World Cup trophy on an open-bus from the headquarters of the FA to the central Obelisco monument.

However, due to the uncontrollable number of people who lined the streets of Buenos Aires to salute their heroes, security operatives had to urge the Argentina FA to abort the parade halfway.

The incident that propelled security operatives to abort the parade was when an overzealous fan jumped onto the open-top bus the team was using for the parade.

Hence, the team had to be evacuated from the open-top bus and allowed to use helicopters to fly over the routes designated for the parade.

The Argentina FA has described the 2022 FIFA World Cup parade which took place in Buenos Aires, the country's capital, on Tuesday, as a shame.

A statement from the AFA read: “The players of the Argentine soccer team ended the festivities by flying over in a helicopter over the crowd of fans who gathered in the city.

“They made that decision after verifying that they could not continue advancing by bus in the middle of the crowd.”

In his reaction to the inability of the security operatives to coordinate the open-bus parade as planned, Argentina FA president, Claudio Tapia described the process as a shame.

He, therefore, apologized to the over 4 million Argentine fans who reportedly stormed the streets to celebrate with their World Cup heroes.

“They won’t let us get to greet all the people who were at the Obelisk, the same security agencies that escorted us don’t allow us to move forward,” Tapia said.

“A thousand apologies on behalf of all the champion players. A shame.”

Recall that Argentina won the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after defeating France in the finals via penalties on Sunday, December 18.

The victorious players flew back to Argentina on Tuesday morning to celebrate the victory with their supporters.

Even though the open-bus parade didn’t go as planned, every city in the country has been in a festive mood due to victory.
