The National Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), Umar Farouk has come out to reveal the only reason that can stop the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi from winning the 2023 elections.

According to him, the only reason that can stop Obi’s emergence as Nigeria’s next president in 2023 is the “docility of Nigerians not to select good leaders.”

Naija News gathered that Farouk made this revelation on Thursday when he was featured on the Channels Television’s Politics Today.

He noted that nothing can stop Obi’s win at the polls next year when Nigerians decide to vote out the old order because they are tired of it.

The Labour Party national secretary emphasised with commitment from Nigerians and the momentum of Obi’s supporters popularly called the Obidients, victory is sure for the party next year at the polls.

He said “That is the docility of Nigerians not to select good leaders. If Nigerians feel that they want to continue with the old order, that they don’t want a good leader, a leader that is going to salvage the situation that is up to them.”

While speaking about the ongoing crisis rocking the party, Naija News learnt that Farouk maintained that the petition from the member of the Ogun State chapter of the party to the National Chairman alleging financial mismanagement is not out of place as there have been many of such allegations even in the other parties.

He, however, alleged that some members of the party have compromised and allowed themselves to be infiltrated by outsiders, adding that the party at the national level voided the action of the Ogun chapter of the party over the suspension of the Director General of the presidential campaign, Doyin Okupe because failure to follow the party’s constitution.

Farouk also appealed to aggrieved leaders of the party to always trust the internal conflict resolution mechanism of the party rather than going to the public to ridicule themselves and the party.
