Calabar: Wealthy Landlord Commits Suicide In His Parlour

An unidentified house owner on Adak Uko Street, off Mbukpa Road in the Calabar South area, popularly known as “Hello Daddy”, has committed suicide.

Naija News understands that the dire incident happened on Friday at about 4.30pm.

According to Daily Post, the deceased was a wealthy man with number of cars and houses in Calabar.

He was also an elder in the Mount Zion Church in Calabar.

He hung himself in his parlour and a surging crowd of shocked neighbours and passersby were debarred from invading his apartment.

Youths in the neighborhood later brought down the body after performing some traditional sacrifices.

At about 6.30pm, they brought out the rope with which he used to hang himself to the tarred road, cut it into pieces and poured palm wine while chanting some inaudible words.

He was said to have been sick for a long time.

Calls placed to the state police PRO, SP Irene Ugbo by the aforementioned publication were not answered.

Suspected Yahoo Boy Beats Girlfriend To Death

A suspected Yahoo boy by the name Obeta John, has been apprehended by the Ogun State police for allegedly murdering his girlfriend Idowu Buhari, for refusing to release the funds paid into her account from one of his fraudulent deals.

The state police command Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the situation in a statement on Tuesday November 29.

According to him, John was arrested after the command received a distress call that he had locked his girlfriend who is an HND1 Mass Communication student of Gateway Polytechnic in Saapade area of Ogun State. inside a room and was beating her mercilessly.

When the security operatives arrived at the scene, they broke the door open and met the deceased in a pool of her own blood.

The PPRO said, “The suspect was arrested following a distress call received at Ode-Remo divisional headquarters, that one Obeta John, who resides at No 3, Mojubade compound, Eredu Ishara, locked his girlfriend inside his room and had started beating her and hitting her head against the wall. All efforts made to persuade him to open the door proved abortive.

”Upon the distress call, the DPO Ode-remo division, CSP Fasogbon Olayemi, quickly led his men to the scene where they met the victim in the pool of her blood after forcing the door opened.

“The victim was quickly rushed to State Hospital Ishara, but was pronounced dead by doctor on duty.

“On interrogation the suspect, Obeta John, informed the police that he is an internet fraudster, and that certain amount of money from one of his client was paid into the account of his deceased girlfriend which she refused to relinquish to him.”
