Cristiano Ronaldo’s former coach at Manchester United, Ralf Rangnick, has responded to the Portugal national team captain’s demeaning comment during an interview with Piers Morgan.

Recall that Rangnick was at Old Trafford for most of the 2021-2022 season following his appointment last November as an interim coach.

The 64-year-old German took over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and was due at Old Trafford for a further two years in a consultancy role but eventually signed out of the club on mutual ground.

Ronaldo, however, recently hit out at Rangnick while speaking in an explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

The forward claimed during the session that he had ‘never heard of Rangnick.

The Portugal captain said, “This guy [Rangnick] is not even a coach. A big club like Manchester United bringing in a sports director surprised not only me but all the world.”

Ronaldo’s revelations during the interview have since generated some reactions among fans, pundits, and sportsmen.

Reacting, however, Rangnick who after leaving United took charge of the Austria national team, said it is not his job to judge the player.

“I’m the team boss of Austria’s national team, it’s not my job to judge that. (It’s) the job of Manchester United and the sports journalists,” Rangnick said according to Sport Witness.
