Calabar Nurse In Trouble After Raping 14yr-old Girl In Hospital

One Austin Etim has landed himself in trouble after allegedly defiling a teenager at the General Hospital in Calabar, Cross River State.

Reports made available to newsmen on Monday said the male nurse took advantage of the 14-year-old girl who was looking after her sick father, admitted to the male ward of the hospital.

Naija News learnt that Etim committed the crime last Saturday but was arrested on Monday (today) by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.

His arrest was aided by the hospital management and intervention of the ministry of health.

Vanguard Newspaper reported that the victim (name withheld) was taking care of her sick father at the hospital’s male ward while her mother was running around for other things.

Sources in the hospital familiar with the incident told newsmen that the nurse used a scarf to tie up the victim before assaulting her.

According to one of the nurses who spoke on anonymity, the incident happened on Saturday as the teenager watched over her father, who was unconscious at the time.

The mother according to the source, had gone to get drugs for her sick husband and also to bring to the hospital some other items when the male nurse took advantage of the young girl.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, MOH, Dr Iwara Iwara, who confirmed the incident to reporters, said the suspect has been suspended henceforth, and the hospital has been given 48 hours to medically examine the teenager and produce her medical report for onward prosecution of the matter.
