Labour Party Chieftain Billed To Anchor Peter Obi Rally In Owerri Slumps And Dies

A Nigerian man has climbed to the top of mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to hoist Labour Party, (LP) flag.

The man identified as @OGersh hoisted the Labour party  flag, a (Nigerian political party) at Uhuru peak, which is the highest point of the Africa’s mountain.

Naija News reports that the LP is the platform under which the former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi stands to seek election for the position of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.

OGersh got to the mountain top on Friday, 20/10/2022 after 10½ hrs of climbing, hiking and trekking.

After his successful hoisting of the Labour Party flag, OGersh took to his Twitter handle @OGersh and wrote: “… I made it to the Uhuru Peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, 5,895m above sea level. There is no better place to announce the coming of a New Nigeria than the Rooftop of Africa”

Labour Party Makes New Appointments

Meanwhile, the Labour Party has appointed Professor Eddie Oparaoji as Chairman of a seven-man Caretaker Committee to establish the US Chapter of the party.

The party made this known in a letter signed by the Chairman and Secretary of its Diaspora Committee.

The party described Oparaoji as an indefatigable unapologetic “Obidient” who led or played significant roles at several civil society and Think-Tank organizations including, Chairman of the very influential Washington DC-based Nigerian-American Coalition for Justice and Democracy (NACJD).

It added that the technocrat was the Chairman of the New York-based Mbaise Policy Roundtable (MPR), Convener of the Patriotic Citizens of Amuzi (PCA), and member Nigerian Association of Pharmacists and Pharmaceutical Scientists in the Americas (NAPPSA) among others.

In his acceptance letter, Oparaoji promised to work diligently within the legal frameworks of Nigeria and the USA for the success of the party in the 2023 general elections.

The US-based technocrat and politician also vowed to help the party move Nigeria from consumption to production.

He said, “I am in receipt of your letter conveying the decision of the Labour Party Nigeria to institute a 7-man Caretaker Committee to coordinate the activities of the Labour Party in the USA, under my Chairmanship.

“I wish to hereby accept this appointment, on behalf of members of my committee. May I also assure you of our commitment to work diligently within the legal frameworks of Nigeria and the USA, with you and all who share in the ideals and values of the party, of putting people first, to help the party move Nigeria from consumption to production.”
