Anxiety As PDP, Atiku Close Case Against Tinubu Today

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has expressed his sympathy for the families of those who lost their lives at the Lekki Tollgate on October 20, 2020.

Naija News reports that #EndSARS protesters earlier in the day marked the second anniversary of the Lekki shooting with a memorial procession at the tollgate and its environs.

Atiku, in a statement he personally signed on Thursday, said his position regarding the Lekki shooting hasn’t changed, stating that he would continue to support social change.

The former Vice President said the sad memory of the Lekki shooting cannot be wished away so quickly, adding that there is still the need for Police reforms which would incorporate State Police and justice for victims of police brutality.

Atiku asserted that his heart remains shattered for the families that lost their lives in the protest and he stands with all families still grieving from their loss

He said: “Two years ago, on this day, I shared a statement of sincere disappointment, anger, condemnation and pain. Two years after, that position has not changed.

“I maintain the position expressed in the video broadcast on 20/10/20. Our children MUST be heard and provided with spaces to express themselves within the ambit of the law and given opportunities too.
