The Labour Party (LP) has demanded the arrest and prosecution of the Iyaloja General of Nigeria, Mrs. Folashade Tinubu Ojo, who is the daughter of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Naija News reports that a video had earlier gone viral where shops allegedly belonging to those who failed to attend Tinubu’s rally were shut down.

The traders claimed that they were asked to pay a sum of N5000 each.

Reacting to the situation, LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Arabambi Oluwafemi, in a statement on Monday, argued that the action was not in line with the tenents of democracy.

According to him, “Section 40 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 provides as follows: “Every person shall be entitled to assembly freely and associate with other persons, and in particular he may form or belong to any political party, trade union or any association for the protection of his interests.

“Thus, the urgent call has become necessary going by the recurring attacks on members of Labour party and our offices in Lagos.

He recalled the attack on the Labour Party offices in Ajegunle and other areas in Lagos, such as; Oshodi area of Lagos.

According to him, the State Police Command has refused to act on its clarion calls to create an enabling environment for all politicians in Lagos irrespective of their party’s affiliation.
