2023: Obi's Camp Denies Claims Of Campaign Funds Diversion

A former chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Anambra State, Chris Eluemuno has expressed optimism that the processes put in place by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will make it difficult to rig the 2023 election.

He argued that once the 2023 presidential election is not rigged, then the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi will emerge victorious.

Naija News reports Eluemuno made his view known yesterday while speaking with newsmen at his country home, Nkwelle-Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to him, Obi already enjoys massive support from Nigerians and with the reforms and technological advancements put in place by INEC, rigging has become difficult and that will work in favour of the Labour Party candidate.

Eluemuno advanced that with the electoral act in place and the electronic voting systems, rigging elections has become virtually impossible.

He added however that should by any way, the election be rigged, Nigerians are ready to say no.

“If they try and rig it, they will see more than they saw during the EndSARS protest. Nigerians are set for a showdown if the man of the people is denied his victory.”

Obasanjo Canvassing Support For Obi – Source

The meeting between former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike reportedly discussed how to raise support for Obi’s presidential bid.

A source that spoke with Punch on the details of the meeting, noted that Obasanjo met with Wike to seek his support for Obi in 2023.

The source who spoke on a possibility of an Obi/Wike alliance said, “Obasanjo is working on that, but many of us (Wike’s camp) prefer Tinubu.

“Tinubu has a political structure and base. Although Obi is ‘Obidient’, he doesn’t have a structure and base. Obi’s candidacy will only rub off on the PDP’s stronghold.”

Another close associate of Governor Wike noted that Obasanjo is supporting Obi based on the need for the South-East to produce the next president.
