Soludo Suspends Council Boss Over Wife’s Mysterious Death

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has indefinitely suspended the Caretaker Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Mbazulike Iloka, over the circumstances surrounding his wife’s death.

Naija News understands that the deceased, Chidiebere IIoka, died on Sunday, a few days after Iloka was sworn in as the Transition Committee chairman of the council.

It was learned that the deceased slumped and died after serving her husband’s breakfast, but neighbours accused Iloka of killing his wife after a huge wound was seen on her head and bruises all over her body.

The neighbours also alleged that the politician has a record of domestic violence.

However, the death of Mrs Iloka and the circumstances leading to her death have generated a huge outcry in the local government and state in general.

In a letter signed by the state Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Tony Nwabunwanne, the governor asked Iloka to step aside to allow investigation into the incident.

Governor Soludo directed the politician to hand over the council affairs to the head of Local Government administration to avoid interfering in the investigation.

The letter with the title, ‘Letter of suspension from office,’ read, “Following the sad news of the death of your wife, late Mrs Chidiebere Iloka on 7th August 2022, there has been a massive outcry over the circumstances leading to her death, including alleged possible homicide.

“While you are presumed innocent until the completion of investigations, it has become imperative that you step aside to allow unfettered investigation and justice.

“Consequently, you are directed to step aside and to hand over the affairs of the local government to the head of local government administration, not later than 12th August 2022, until further notice.”
