President Buhari Summon Service Chiefs For Security Meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned the Services Chiefs to an emergency security meeting which is scheduled to hold on Thursday.

Naija News reports that this is coming days after the Presidential Brigade Guards came under attack by terrorists in the Bwari area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“Tomorrow the President has summoned another security meeting with the heads of the security agencies,” the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, disclosed this on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

Recall that Senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had walked out of the Senate during plenary following the refusal of Senate President Ahmad Lawan to allow for the passing of a motion on insecurity.

Senate Minority Leader, Senator Phillip Aduda, had threatened to commence impeachment proceedings against the President should he fail to address the insecurity within the period given by the lawmakers.

Reacting in the interview, Femi Adeshina stated that there is not much they will do after the drama that played out in the red chamber.

He said: “I think it was just bravado, and sadly, security is not something you subject to bravado.”

Those expected to attend the meeting include the Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Major Gen. Babagana Monguno, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Farouk Yahaya, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao.

Others scheduled for the meeting are the Chief of Defense Staff, General Lucky Irabor, attendance was the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman, the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS), Yusuf Bichi and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar.
