2023: Obi's Camp Denies Claims Of Campaign Funds Diversion

Labour party, LP, presidential candidate Peter Obi has condemned the murder of Rev Fr John Mark Chietnum of Kafanchan Diocese in Kaduna.

The deceased was the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) chairman in Jema’a Local Government Area and the coordinating chair in Southern Kaduna.

He was found dead after he was kidnaped alongside another Catholic priest in Lere local government area.

Reacting to the death of the cleric via a statement on Friday, the former Anambra governor noted that Chietnum’s murder “is among the many needless bloodletting in Nigeria”.

He blamed the country’s leadership for the many deaths in the nation and urged Nigerian youths to arise in unison and take back the country.

Nigeria youths must rise in unison irrespective of religion, tribe or geography to take back their country”, he charged.

Obi also condemned the massacre of more than a dozen youths in the Mgbidi area of Imo state.

The former Anambra governor regretted that the value placed on human lives “is extremely poor and worthless”.

He subsequently sent his condolences to the families of the bereaved, the Kafanchan Catholic Diocese and the Catholic community.
