The vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, on Friday night, revealed why he withdrew from the governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State.

According to Baba-Ahmed, he withdrew from the race because God has not created him to buy delegates’ votes.

He further stated that he took a stand that he was there to correct a bad situation and not in search of a job.

According to Baba-Ahmed, when he saw that he had to buy votes, he respectfully withdrew from the race.

Baba-Ahmed stated this during an interview on Channels TV, hours after being announced as Peter Obi’s running mate.

He said, “I withdrew from the PDP governorship race in Kaduna because God has not created me as someone who will buy delegates’ votes.

“And I made it categorically clear that I was not in search of a job. I was there to correct a very bad situation.

“When it became apparent that it was necessary to buy votes, I said I just can’t do it. Respectfully, I withdrew from the race.

“And I told them I will remain faithful and loyal to the party. But then it became clear they were afraid of me and I had no future in the party.”
