Some gunmen reportedly operated in the Agulu community of Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State earlier today and abducted a man whose identity has not been confirmed.

Naija News understands that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi hailed from the attacked community.

Reports made available to newsmen revealed that the gun-wielding men ambushed their victim and forced him in the trunk of his car, a Lexus ES350 saloon and whisked him away to an unknown location.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga said: “Police operatives at about 4 pm, today 25/6/2022 rescued an abducted victim and recovered one Lexus 350 Saloon with Reg. Nos. EPE 316 HE and Ford SUV with Reg Nos. GGE 769 FT along Ezinifite road, Aguata LGA.”

However, while the assailants were still on the run with the victim, the Police upon the receipt of the information intensified patrols and restrategized operational positioning within the area.

This according to the police report, made the hoodlums abandon the victim, his vehicle, and their operational vehicle and fled.

Ikenga said following the rescue of the victim, whose identity was not immediately disclosed, police commenced operation with the aim of arresting the fleeing criminals.

Meanwhile, residents of Rafin Daji, a community in Gurbe Ward in the Abaji Local Government Area Council of Abuja, were left in agony on Thursday after bandit terrorists stormed the community and kidnapped their family members.

Naija News learned on Friday that at least 22 people were abducted, including 13 members of a family.

It was gathered that the affected people were working on their farms on Wednesday, June 22 when the assailants came and whisked them away to an unknown location.

One Engr. Ibrahim A. Barde whose 13 family members were among those abducted, explained that the peasant farmers were working as a group on a large expanse of land, using tractors before the terror group surrounded and whisked them away.

He explained that the bandit terrorists burnt one of the three tractors being used by the farmers.
