What You Need To Know About Wike As PDP Panel Reportedly Endorses Him As Atiku’s Running Mate

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has been nominated by a committee set up by the Peoples Democratic Party to recommend a running mate for Atiku Abubakar.

According to the committee, Wike who emerged second in the party’s presidential election will do better as a vice-presidential candidate than the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa and Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State.

Naija News gathered that Wike was suggested as Atiku’s running mate based on his strength.

The main opposition party is expected to officially announce its vice-presidential candidate on Thursday.

1. Governor Wike was born on the 13th of December 1963 (age 58) in Obio-Akpor, Rivers State.

2. Wike attended Government Secondary School Eneka in Obiakpor, Rivers State where he sat for his O’level exams.

3. He obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUT).

4. The PDP chieftain holds a Master of Arts degree in Political and Administrative Studies from RSUT.

5. The Rivers State Governor was appointed the Minister of State for Education by former president, Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 and was promoted to Federal Minister of Education in September 2013.

6. Wike became Governor of Rivers State In 2015.

7. He was re-elected as Governor of Rivers State after winning the election in 2019.
