Shehu Sani Reacts As Buhari Govt Set To Ban Ponmo

Former Kaduna Central lawmaker and activist, Senator Shehu Sani has hailed the Muhammadu Buhari government for recognising June 12 as Democracy Day.

Recall that President Buhari on Sunday in his Democracy Day speech revealed that the Democracy Day celebration was moved from May 29 to June 12 to remind Nigerians of a free and fair election of MKO Abiola which was annulled.

The President further stated that Nigerians were denied their rights and their choice following the annulment of the election.

He noted that Nigerians must not forget the sacrifices of the heroes of Nigeria’s democracy during 1993.

In a tweet via his Twitter handle on Sunday, Sani said the recognition of June 12 as a democracy day is a positive mark for the Buhari administration.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain also commended the Buhari government for the immortalisation and the appreciation of the struggle for democracy led by MKO Abiola.

He wrote: “The Recognition of June 12 as a democracy day, the immortalisation and the appreciation of the struggle for democracy led by Chief MKO Abiola is a positive mark for the PMB administration.”
