2023: Bankole Visits Tinubu, Backs APC Leader's Presidential Ambition

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Presidential Aspirant, Demeji Bankole, has visited the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The former Speaker visited Tinubu at his Abuja residence on Tuesday morning alongside the former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

Bankole declared his total support for the APC national leader in today’s Presidential primary election scheduled to take place at the Eagle Square in Abuja.

As of the time of filing this report, the former speaker has not announced his withdrawal from the APC presidential primaries.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly directed the APC Governors to reduce the names of presidential aspirants to three.

It is understood that President Buhari is expected to select a consensus candidate from the list of names submitted by the governors.

Recall that the APC governors had earlier submitted the names of five presidential aspirants to the President ahead of the party’s presidential primary slated for today (Tuesday).

It was learned that the Progressives Governors Forum submitted the five names to the President in the early hours of Tuesday.

The names included on the list are Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation, and Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State.
