Former Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari’s on Digital and New Media, Bashir Ahmad has claimed the report about the bomb explosion in Kano State was untrue.

Naija News had reported earlier that there was commotion on Tuesday at Aba Road in the Sabon Gari area of Kano State after a loud explosion was heard in the area.

One person was confirmed dead while several others reportedly sustained degrees of injuries.

Footage from the sad incident showed that the blast affected a building with at least one corpse seen on the scene.

The number of casualties is still unknown, but many people are said to be affected.

It is yet clear if one of the buildings housed a school, but the visuals showed several injured pupils and other schoolchildren being moved away from the scene.

Reacting, however, to the incident, Bashir Ahmad took to his Twitter account to note that the incident was a gas explosion and not a bomb explosion as claimed in reports.
Ahmad tweeted: “The unfortunate incident in Kano was a gas explosion, not a bomb blast, the Kano State Police Commissioner has confirmed.”

Naija News recalls that Ahmad recently resigned his appointment as Buhari’s media aide.

Ahmad acted positively to Buhari’s directive last week Wednesday that members of his cabinet and political appointees seeking any elective position must resign.

The President had ordered that the ministers and other political appointees should submit their letters of resignation on or before Monday, May 16, 2022.

Naija News reports that the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, disclosed this in a chat with State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting last week Wednesday.

However, a check on Ahmad’s Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon showed that he had removed “Personal Assistant on New Media to @MBuhari, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria” from his profile.

The former presidential aide now claims to be a ‘Digital Communication enthusiast’.
