Naija News looks at the top happenings making headlines on the front pages of Nigeria’s national newspapers today Wednesday, May 11th 2022.

The PUNCH: Some All Progressives  Congress leaders have stepped up moves to adopt former President Goodluck Jonathan as the party’s consensus presidential candidate in 2023. The PUNCH on Tuesday learnt the moves formed part of the discussions between the former President and the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, in Abuja on Monday night.

The Guardian: All eyes will be on the major opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today, as its National Executive Committee (NEC) meets in Abuja to consider among others the report of the Samuel Ortom Committee on zoning.

This Day: Fresh facts have emerged from the recent meeting in Abuja between the former president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, and National Chairman of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, which was held behind closed doors.

The Nation: There is uncertainty in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over three of the 26 presidential nomination forms obtained for aspirants. The forms are those obtained for former President Goodluck Jonathan by ‘Normadic Herders and Almajiris Community, the one for Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele by the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RFAN) and that obtained for African Development Bank (AfDB) President Akinwunmi Adesina by the nebulous Coalition of Interest Groups.

Daily Trust: Twenty days to the presidential primary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), campaign and governance are competing for attention as key government officials aspiring for the presidency rarely stay in their offices to discharge their responsibilities.
