Ebute Metta: Lagos Govt Evacuates Occupants Of Collapsed Building

The landlord’s son of the collapsed three-storey building in Ebute-Meta on Monday noted that tenants were issued a quick notice after he discovered the distress in the building.

The son who is managing the property told newsmen that he was living in the building with other tenants when he noticed the distress.

The caretaker who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “I had to leave the building and rented an apartment in the same vicinity.”

He further stated that the tenants were issued the notice to quit but they refused to comply.

According to the caretaker, he has not collected rental fees from tenants in a long time as he had asked them to pack out.

Naija News had earlier reported that the building located at 24 Ibadan Street, off Herbert Macaulay Way, Ebute-Meta, collapsed on Sunday night.

The incident has led to the death of eight occupants, while 23 occupants have been rescued.

Emergency workers have been up and doing to get to ground zero of the building.
