Suspect Ritualist Arrested For Killing 24-Year-Old In Rivers

A suspected ritualist, Sunday Kara has been arrested by the police for killing a 24-year-old in Rivers.

The incident reportedly took place on Friday in Barako Community, Gokana Local Government Area of the state.

A source, in the community identified simply as Barisi told Vanguard that the suspect took the deceased to an uncompleted building in the wee hours of Friday morning and murdered her.

When apprehended and interrogated by community leaders the suspect denied committing the crime instead he said that the deceased was an asthma patient and died while they were making love.

However, the Menebon of Bomu, HRH. Mene Vurasi Benedict Tenalo, when contacted on phone distanced himself from the suspect and called on the police to ensure that justice is done on the matter.

He advised the police to carry out it’s investigation carefully as the community was peace-loving and would not want such an incident to tarnish it’s image

The state police spokesperson, DSP. Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the development noted that the suspect was already in detention.

Iringe-Koko, also stated that Investigation into the incident was ongoing and the suspect would be prosecuted if found guilty.
