London Medical Trip: Reactions Trail Buhari's Hand Over To Osinbajo

Reactions have trailed statements credited to President Muhammadu Buhari that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is in charge of governance during his absence.

Naija News reports that the President made this known in a chat with State House correspondents at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Sunday.

The Nigerian leader departed Nigeria for London in the United Kingdom for his routine medical checkup and did not officially hand over the government to Osinbajo.

President Buhari stated that Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha and his Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari, are capable of running the country effectively in his absence.

However, President Buhari refused to disclose to reporters if he sent a letter to the National Assembly to inform them of his handover to Osinbajo as required by Section 145 (1) of the 1999 constitution.

Nigerians have now taken to social media to condemn the president for verbally handing over to the vice president and not obeying the constitution.
