The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has promised not to cover up any of its officials involved in the ongoing investigations into the alleged drug case linked to the embattled cop, Abba Kyari.

Naija News report that the spokesman of the agency, Femi Babafemi, made this known on Tuesday while reacting to the statement credited to the Nigeria Police Force.

Recall that the Police had accused some NDLEA operatives of aiding the trafficking of drugs in the country, asking the anti-drug agency to immediately prosecute its officers involved in the drug case.

Police Deputy PRO, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, had said: “Beyond this, the Police investigation also established that the international narcotics cartel involved in this case have strong ties with some officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) who are on their payroll.

“The two arrested drug couriers confirmed that the modus is for the transnational drug barons to conspire with the NDLEA officers on duty and send them their pre-boarding photographs for identification.

“The idea is to ensure seamless clearance, and unhindered passage out of the airport with the narcotics being trafficked.

Reacting to the claims, Babafemi denied the involvement of some NDLEA officers, adding that the agency would not cover up for anyone, no matter how highly placed they are.

He, however, urged Nigerians to be patient on the ongoing investigations to unravel the mystery behind the drug case involving DCP Kyari.

Having gone this far, and doing due diligence, what kind of cover-up are you talking about? Anybody that may be indicted would face the full wrath of the law. And this has always been the stance of the Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa.

“We appeal to Nigerians to let the agency complete its assignment and we assured Nigerians that the outcome of the investigation would be made public appropriately,” he said.
