Shehu Sani Reacts As Tinubu Meets UAE Leadership Over Visa Ban, Others

A former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to the fresh strike action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

It will be recalled as previously reported by Naija News that ASUU declared a one-month total strike after the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the union in Lagos tagged ‘NEC for NEC.’

The academic union made its decision known at a press conference addressed by the President of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, on Monday, 14th February 2022.

Reacting to the development, Sani took to his Twitter page where he observed that most Nigerian students don’t know NANS which is the National Association of Nigerian Students but they know ASUU.

He wrote: “Most students don’t know NANS but they know ASUU.”

In other news, the professorship of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami has been declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities as illegal.

The decision was reached by the National Executive Council at a meeting held on Sunday night, while the President of ASUU, Emmanuel Osodeke, announced it at a press conference on Monday.

He said, “You cannot be a minister and a lecturer in a university. It is an encouragement of illegality.

“Pantami has to quit as a minister and be tried for doing double jobs within the same federal system. He is not qualified. Pantami should not be treated as a professor.”
