A fourteen-year-old boy identified as Sani Suleiman, suspected to be a bandit has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Zamfara State.

The NSCDC in a statement by its Zamfara command spokesperson said the teenager was arrested during a patrol on February 7, 2022, at about 1am at Samaru Area Gusau.

The statement added that upon investigations, it was discovered that Suleiman had been trained in banditry at Sububu forest by a well-known bandit kingpin, Salihu.

The suspect confessed to have been trained in weapons handling and also participated in some criminal activities including cattle rustling, kidnapping, and rape.

“The investigation revealed that he was trained by one bandit kingpin Salihu at Sububu forest on weapon handling.

“He confessed to have participated in cattle rustling and kidnapping activities.

“The teenager also confessed that he raped women who were kidnapped and brought to their custody,” Oche stated.

The spokesperson added that, “Investigations is still on and once it is concluded, the corps will do the needful.”

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old, man, Mai Goni, has allegedly beaten his father to death with a pestle in Yobe.

The incident occurred at Masaba, Bursari Local Government Area of Yobe State on Tuesday at about 7:30pm.

The state command’s spokesman, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the deceased suffered a head injury as a result of the attack and was pronounced dead by a doctor in the hospital.

He said the suspect fled the scene after the crime and the police were making efforts to apprehended him and make sure justice is served.
