Students of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, have protested against the incessant killing of their colleagues by trailers and trucks in the town.

Naija News reports that some students of the institution have been killed in accidents involving trailers, but the latest tragic incident that occurred on Wednesday led to the protest.

It was gathered that a 400 level student who was simply identified as Michael was killed on Thursday evening by a trailer coming from Ikare-Akoko.

This news platform gathered that after killing the deceased, the driver of the truck attempted to run away but was arrested and handed over to the police.

On Thursday, the protesters gathered in front of the school gate, barricading the Owo-Ikare Akoko expressway, chanting various solidarity songs.

The students called on relevant authorities to find solutions to the accidents that had left many dead and others maimed for life.

At the time of filing the report, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Olugba Ige, was addressing the protesters in front of the school gate.

He said another barricade will be erected in front of the school and the state government will ensure the dualization of the road.
