Buhari Govt Reveals Reason For Awarding Multibillion Naira Contracts 18 Days To Go

The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday screened and confirmed Muazu Sambo as a minister-designate.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had asked the Red Chamber to confirm Sambo as the new power minister to replace former minister, Sale Mamman, who was sacked in September.

In a letter to the National Assembly, President asked the Senate to screen and confirm the minister-designate from Taraba State.

Naija News reports that the nominee was accompanied to the red chamber by members of his family and associates.

Sambo was confirmed as minister-designate after being screened for about an hour on Tuesday and will be inaugurated as a minister by the President.

During his screening, Sambo said he will crack the issues hindering the progress of the Mambilla power project within one year and settle the issue of Sunrise Power Transmission Company of Nigeria Ltd (SPTCL).

Sambo said it is sad that after so many years after its conception, the power project is not yet complete.

He said: “This was a project that was conceptualised right from the days of the first republic and up till now we are still talking about it not taking off.

“I know that the non-taking off of the project is because of an arbitration case in Paris. There must be a way of settling the company that took us to court.

“I will make a difference in one year. I know where the problem is and how to crack it.”
